TEAM SHOW JUMPING
TEAM SHOW JUMPING – 18th SEPTEMBER 2011
After all the rain and wind, the sun shone for the Calgow Team Show Jumping Event on Sunday. Twenty one teams took part and all seemed to have an enjoyable day out! The first six teams all received gifts from the event sponsors: Robert McNally, Farrier; The Galloway Arms Hotel, Glad Nags Tack Shop, Mr. Hugh Gillan, HDI, Mr. Gordon Jackson and Willox Women as well as sashes for first place and rosettes and medals for the others. The prize for the team with the most faults was donated by Nan Wilson and Susan McCalman who made their debut for their Teapots and Treats business. They also catered for the sponsors and helpers lunch.
The final places were:
1st Family Matters with Anne Jolly on Lucky Strike, Quinn Jolly on PJ, Caitlin Jolly on Looney Tunes and Kerrin Forsyth on Rose Gold. Kerrin’s clear round and speed put the team first after a 5 team jump off.
2nd Family Affair with Isla Forsyth on Molly, Jenna Stead on Dancer, Leah Forsyth on DJ and Kerrin Forsyth on Rose Gold. Leah and DJ went clear in the jump off but their time was just seconds slower than sister Kerrin and Rose Gold !
3rd The “A” Team which consisted of Calgow Equestrian Staff, Anne Jolly on Lucky Strike, Pam Macdonald on Macy Grey, Lorna Wilson on Lady Uleta and Fran Stead on Twig. The staff team moved up from 6th and 5th place in previous years…..they’ll be going for first next year!
4th Looney Tunes with Carolyn Fisher on Leo, Michael Symes on Silver, Eilidh Fisher on Sam and Caitlin Jolly on Looney Tunes…Caitlin did a fast round in the jump off but had 8 faults.
5th The Wild West team were 5th with Quinn Jolly on PJ, Beth MacDonald on Minstral, Fiona Campbell on Paddy and Meganne Jolly on Ollie. Meganne also had a fast round but unfortunately speed was at the price of faults!
6th place went to Galloway Smurfs Carolyn Fisher on Leo, Lucy Fisher on Poppy, Eilidh Fisher on Sam and Jenna Stead on Twig. They had 4 faults in the first round which meant they didn’t have to take part in the jump off.
A huge thankyou to our sponsors, our helpers, the riders, horses and ponies for making this such an enjoyable, successful event.
Pictured are the winning team: Kerrin Forsyth on Rose Gold, Quinn Jolly on PJ, Anne Jolly receiving the trophy from Erica Best (last year’s most improved rider) and Caitlin Jolly on Looney Tunes.
